Baked Mozzarella Dip

Mmm cheese. Is there anything better?

I don’t know about ya’ll but I just love anything cheesy or carby. Or better yet put the two together and you have something magical going on. They are the ultimate comfort foods. I mean think about it, pizza, macaroni and cheese, grilled cheese.

You just can’t beat it.

I think I first saw something of this sort at a restuarant a year ago, they had a baked fontina dip with garlic bread to dip in. I didn’t actually get any but the whole concept stuck with me. I mean really, how much better could that get?

(Just look at that gooey cheese!)

 So I finally decided to take a crack at it.

It was delicious.

One amazingly delicious experiment gone right. To be honest, you can’t really mess up this recipe. Put everything in a cast iron skillet throw it in the oven and let it go until you can’t stand to wait any longer, and by that I mean when it turns golden and bubbly.

Serve this at your next dinner party, or if you want to “class” up your football party this weekend, serve this instead of traditional velveeta queso! Make’s you look like a superstar and tastes just as delicious!


Baked Mozzarella Dip

(Recipe by Sarah Eats Austin)




1 baguette

6 ounces fresh mozzarella, sliced

1 tsp dried basil

1 tsp garlic salt

2 tbls olive oil

1/2 tsp minced garlic

fresh basil for garnish




Set your oven to broil.

Place 1 tbls olive oil on the bottom of a small cast iron skillet. Lay the mozzarella over the bottom to cover evenly. Combine the remaining olive oil with dried basil, garlic salt, and minced garlic. Stir to combine and pour over the mozzarella.

Place under the broiler until melted golden and bubbly.

Garnish with fresh basil and serve with baguette slices.

  1. This stuff was fantastic. I didn’t make it for anything special; just a movie marathon with a few friends, but we wound up making a run to the store for supplies to make another batch! This was really easy to make, and we demolished it. Definitely a new go-to snack. Thanks for the recipe!
